Distressed Kayakers in Cambria, CA

On June 11, 2022 CALFIRE SLO and Cambria Fire Department responded to Leffington Creek Launch Point for a report of kayakers is distress.

Dense fog made visibility poor and the kayakers were unable to find which way shore was. The kayakers did have a person on shore with a whistle but the kayakers were unable to hear the whistles. A boat was launched and contact was made with several kayakers who returned to shore.

Scanner chatter indicated possibly more kayakers were picked up by either Morro Bay Harbor Patrol boat or Coast Guard boat and returned to Morro Bay Harbor.
